Make Me Over!

I am turning 45 next month. Yupe, getting old, I know. My dad always told me that his mind always felt younger than his body, and now I know exactly what he means. I sure as heck don’t feel 45, more like 30, heeheehee.
So I entered a Makeover contest! This contest is only for women over the age of 35. To enter you simply submit an essay about a time in your life where something extraordinary happened and your life was transformed.
My essay was about me gaining 70 pounds during my pregnancy, and my X deciding to leave us when my son was 6 months old. How I overcame my obsession with Chocolate Chips and Peanut Butter, how I lost those 70 lbs and more.
I started by changing my shift at work, changing my attitude, and most of all changing my mental state. We moved into my parents’ home and that provided the start for a loving happy and healthy environment for both my son and I. It took me 3 years to get healthy and happy again. When I was mentally and physically well, my son and I bought a Condo and moved out on our own. It’s amazing that just one major life changing experience that started out for the worse could end up being the best thing ever to happen to us.
It’s very easy to enter the contest; so all you gals over 35 out there, go enter the contest and good luck in winning a free make over, because if you are a Mom like me, we sure could use some pampering!

Pat yourself on the back for having come such a long way. As a single mother myself, I totally relate to all you have written though in my case, it was a bit tougher since I had no parental support as I was in new country thousands of miles from home. Regardless all single moms go through the same emotions…
