Of course we saw Buffalo in South Datoka! They are the neatest creatures, so big and beautiful. When we were on our trip tho, I took our digital camera so now I only have pictures on line. I am not used to this. I am used to seeing pictures in a photo album. I think I like photo albums better. I kinda ran out of laser ink cartridges so the pictures are stuck in my PC for the time being. But one day I will arrange them all and it will be nice to sit on the couch and look thru the albums. I need to do this for DC, and that was 2 years ago !

One of the highlights from our South Dakota trip was this really cool little store we found. It was right out of a Daniel Boone movie! My son just loved it! It made me itchy, sneezy and I had to use some shea butter as soon as I got out of the place. It didnt really smell, but just the thought made my skin crawl.

I am not very good with Dead things. I prefer them alive, warm and breathing. But my son is more of a Camper than I give him credit for. He loved this place ! !

We stayed in the cheapest Motel (dont worry I did lots and lots of research first!) that we could find while in South Dakota; it was in the city of Custer. Nice place, very clean and very quiet, and just down right nice! No pedestal bathtub, but they had such nice bed covers too; looked like home made quilts. I found out a little later that the people that owned the hotel lived in Utah 7 months out of the year! Go figure.

This is picture of my son and his new antique pick; I guess this pick was used in a real Gold Mine!

Its about time I starting sharing some South Dakota pictures. We were there for only a few days, but it was a great trip. We went to see Crazy Horse Monument, and let me say – it was a big let down. $10 per person just to get in and this is all we saw:

Pretty far away, huh. If we wanted to get closer it would have cost $5 more a person. Aint gunna happen. I did not have to use the online life insurance calculator as there was nothing to worry about since we were so stinkin’ far away ! But all in all, it was nice and we did see some nice trees and other rocks that day too, HA !

We finally got all our (imitation) documents that we brought back from DC framed and on the wall. They are huge too! Each one is 32″ x 36″. It was a lot of work, and took us a bit of time and energy but we love it. After drilling all the holes, measuring, leveling, taking a quick break for some mountain dew and the best vitamins for men (for my son as he was pooped!), we lay on the bed and looked at our wall.

Here you can see all six, sorta (that black bar is the bed post and I could not shoot around it).

The prints are on parchment too, so thats why they look so yellow. But they do look just like the originals which we did see in DC last summer.

I have decided that I want to go to Las Vegas this June. The kiddo and I cannot really afford any type of ‘normal’ vacation this year, so he suggested we zip down there for a couple days.
I have been searching on line and Excalibur is the best price and entertainment for Families. The only bad reviews I have read is that there are tons of, I guess you would call them Peddlers, trying to get you to listen to a life insurance quote, or sell you a condo share, or some other product. But they dont really bother me much, I am very good at ignoring people!
The prices start at $44 a nite; not too bad. Compaired to our hotel in NYC last summer, this is a bargain for sure! They have so much kid stuff there now, I am sure our trip would be fun. RollerCoaster, Pool, SpongeBob Ride, Aqariums, Tigers, the list goes on.
We still have a few months to decide, oh – and I would need someone to take care our animals that would be stuck at home . . . any volunteers!? heeheehee

New York is SO loud! I know it is the city that never sleeps, but really, there is no peace and quiet anywhere in that entire city! Plus it stinks and is oh so very dirty. Not for me, thankyouverymuch.
But all in all, the kiddo and I had a fun time. It rained on two of the days we were there; we were soaked to the skin! We did see everything we had planned except for Ground Zero. That was the day we got soaked, and we were not in the mood to go romping around lower Manhatten with wet shoes, not to mention, wet undies. yuck!

Today is our last day here in DC (for a few days). We are off to the Big Apple and I am not taking the laptop with us, so no posts for till the end of the week.
We are very excited to go. We are taking the Bus; $20 one person one way. I think that is a very good deal! In a way, I am a little leary of being in the big city. I will have to learn the subway, the streets, and just about everything else. We have never been there, so this will be an experience for me for sure.

I pretty much cannot go to the Zoo. It just breaks my heart to see those animals in cages, all confined and living life in a box. However, I braced myself and we hit the National Zoo here in DC. It is a very nice Zoo. Most all animals live in a very open, natural enviroment. There are so many big, shadey trees, lots of water and its very peacefull (execpt for the screaming kids, ugh). The place is so huge, they even have rv parks nearby for the people that take a driving vacation instead of a walking vacation (like us!).
The Zoo also has two Panda’s; I never seen a Panda before! They are very beautiful creatures and their enviroments is also very nice.

We are still having a wonderful time here in the DC area. Today we went to Mount Vernon and our gracious host gave us a full day of his time, just being our special tour guide.

However, I still tend to feel a tad guilty. I am always worried that we are taking up his time, waisting his time, or just plain being a big bother. I am trying very hard not to be all of the above, but I still wonder . . .
Anyways, I am very happy to be here. It is a wonderful place. I do forget from day to day tho, just how old this State is. I have been taking sooo many pictures I might need a ddr2 hard drive for my laptop to hold all the pics.
President Washingtons home is over 300 years old; of course it has been renovated, but it is still amazing to see! The view from the back porch of his house is still as beautiful as it was back then.
